How do I say “When I arrive, I'll call you”?

Portuguese has a verb form English doesn't: the future subjunctive, used after quando for future events. What's the “eu” form of chegar in the present?

Chego. So “Quando eu chego, eu te ligo”?

People do say that casually, but in standard Portuguese quando plus a future event takes the future subjunctive. For regular verbs, it looks just like the infinitive in the eu form. What would that be?

Chegar. So “Quando eu chegar, eu te ligo.”

Exato. Try “If you want, we can go.”

Se plus future too, so “Se você quiser, a gente pode ir.”

After quando and se for future events, Portuguese uses the future subjunctive: quando eu chegar, se você quiser.
